Although Robert was the one to leave Grace to finally be happy with Sol, he still held onto a grudge against her and blamed her for a lot of the issues during their marriage.
Robert believes that they had a terrible relationship and Grace should be happy that their marriage is ending, but Grace wants to be upset at him for leaving her. After a lifetime stifling flaming tendencies, Robert wanted to finally indulge them. Robert decides to donate a large amount of his and Sol's savings to save the local theater and neglects to talk to him or tell him about it. But, the way I see it, Robert IS a stereotypical gay man who was in the closet for so long!
Both are at fault and while Grace does say some truly terrible things to him, it's Robert that tries to make it seem like the last 40 years of their lives together didn't mean much. I get that many gay men act like that in real life, but I just remember being younger and dreading my future because the only gay people that I saw on TV were guys like Jack McFarland (Will & Grace), who I found incredibly stereotypical. Although he is committed to Robert when they finally reveal their affair, he quickly finds himself continuing a friendship with Frankie and cheating on Robert with her.

For someone who needs everyone to like him and wants everyone to be happy, the fact that he cheated on both of his loves is shocking. votes, comments. Sol needs to connect with those he loves and he happens to love both Frankie and Robert.
